Kelly Rizzo is setting the record straight on dating after you lose a partner.

Rizzo took to Instagram to share her experiences dating after late husband Bob Saget passed away on January 9, 2022. "Dating after losing your spouse. So crazy how controversial of a topic this is," she began, while making a sandwich with pistachio burrata.

"When I lost Bob two and a half years ago, even the thought of moving forward -- not moving on, moving forward -- gave me so much anxiety. What will people think? What will my loved ones think? What will Bob's loved ones think?" she said.

"What will the public think?" Rizzo continued, noting it was "a weird thing" she had to worry about. She also wondered what her late husband would think, before questioning, "Who's ever going to want to date a widow? I hate that word."

Back in February 2024, when she debuted her new romance with Clueless actor Breckin Meyer at a Grammys viewing party, she received some criticism from fans who thought she should have waited longer to date. However, she shared her gratitude that her family had been so accepting.

"So I've actually been very fortunate to have all the support in the world from my family and friends, Bob's family and friends." Saget shared daughters Aubrey, 37, Lara Melanie, 34, and Jennifer Belle, 31, with ex-wife Sherri Kramer. "Yes, even the public has been lovely except for a couple negative comments," Rizzo continued in the video. "I was very fortunate to find someone who is so kind and compassionate and understanding about the whole situation."

Rizzo said it was even kind of a joke that she picked "the one person on Earth that Bob wouldn't be that mad about." The Comfort Food podcast host maintained that no one who hasn't been in her situation should judge, sharing, "This is a very complex situation. A lot of complicated feelings. Unless you've ever actually been through it, you just really do not understand what it's like."

She offered comfort for anyone else dealing with dating as a widow or widower, ensuring them, "You have a lot more support out there than you think." Rizzo also advised anyone whose loved one is struggling to move on, saying "the best thing that you can do is just to love them and support them and be there for them."

Beloved comedian Saget passed away at age 65 after an accidental head trauma. Rizzo and Saget met on social media, and after a couple years of lots of traveling together, the Full House star proposed in November 2017. The pair tied the knot in 2018.
