July 11 marked 25 years since the first American Pie movie was released and, since then, many of the stars have gone on to make a name for themselves in the industry.

Released in 1999, the first film centered on a group of high school seniors who made a pact to lose their virginity before their graduation. The raunchy teen comedy went on to become an international hit, grossing more than $235 million worldwide and launched a $900-million franchise.

Due to the film's success, there have been numerous sequels and direct-to-video spinoffs, and the cast's careers have gone in a variety of different directions.

Here Newsweek has shared where the main cast's careers have gone decades after the hit film was released.

Jason Biggs

American Pie was the first film Jason Biggs starred in, in which he played Jim Levenstein, an awkward and sexually naive nerd. After the film went on to become an international success, he starred in three of its sequels.

Biggs' career continued to thrive after leaving the franchise, as he was cast in Woody Allen's romantic comedy Anything Else and has appeared in several other films, including Eight Below and Over Her Dead Body. In 2012, he reprised his role as Jim in the movie American Reunion.

He has also had various TV gigs, previously voicing Leonardo in Nickelodeon's animated series Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He left during its second season. Biggs eventually went on to play Larry Bloom in the popular Netflix series Orange Is the New Black for two seasons, leaving the show in 2015.

Biggs' success hasn't just been in film and television, as he's also starred in various plays, including the Broadway production of The Graduate, Howard Korder's Boys' Life, and the Broadway production of The Heidi Chronicles.

More recently, Biggs starred as Rob Sanders in the Netflix Christmas-themed film Best. Christmas. Ever. in 2023 and voiced Marcus in the 2024 podcast series Yellow Face.

Seann William Scott

Sean William Scott was cast as Steve Stifler in American Pie, a popular jock who was the only one of the main five characters who was not a virgin. After the film's success, he reprised his role in American Pie 2, American Wedding, and American Reunion.

After starring in the franchise, he went on to have a successful movie career, starring in a variety of films including Dude, Where's My Car?, Final Destination, The Dukes of Hazzard and Role Models. He voiced Crash in two Ice Age television specials and four Ice Age movies.

Scott has also starred in various TV shows, portraying former CIA operative Wesley Cole in the series Lethal Weapon from 2018 to 2019, and from 2022 to 2023, he played Father Joe in the show Welcome to Flatch. It was canceled in 2023 after two seasons.

In 2023, he played Daryl in the film The Wrath of Becky.

While his acting career hasn't been as successful as that of Biggs and Scott, he has starred in a variety of films, such as The Rules of Attraction, Stealing Sinatra and Adverse. He has also appeared in an episode of Grey's Anatomy.

In 2008, Nicholas self-released his debut album, Without Warning and his follow-up album, Without Warning Acoustic the following year. He has gone on to release three albums since then, and his single "My Generation" is featured on the American Reunion soundtrack album.

He has also worked in television, as he previously played Cicada in the superhero The Flash and he is currently playing Bill Townsend in the Netflix series Sweet Magnolias.

Her career has gone on from one strength to another and she has even won two Primetime Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe.

After American Pie, she had supporting roles in the Legally Blonde franchise and has appeared in an impressive number of other films, including A Cinderella Story, Click, Date Movie, Promising Young Woman and Shotgun Wedding.

She also played April Wexler in the television movie Sharknado in 2013 and returned to the role in five further films. Inspired by the film franchise, she debuted a new swimsuit collection and perfume in 2014 under the name "Shark by Tara."

Mena Suvari had already broken into the film industry before she portrayed an innocent choir girl named Heather in the 1999 movie—but her career grew to new heights.

The actor worked with Biggs again in the romantic comedy Loser. Since the Wheatus music video for "Teenage Dirtbag" was greatly influenced by the 2000 movie, the two actors collaborated once more on it.

In 2001, Suvari starred in the three feature films Sugar & Spice, American Pie 2 and The Musketeer. Some of her other noteworthy film credits include Sonny, Trauma, Beauty Shop, Rumor Has It, Factory Girl and You May Not Kiss the Bride.

Like many of her former American Pie castmates, she has also had success in the TV industry.
