Eddie Murphy is a married man!
Murphy, 63, and his long-term girlfriend Paige Butcher, 44, tied the knot on Tuesday, July 9 in Anguilla, People Magazine confirms. He and the Australian model celebrated in a small, intimate ceremony with family and friends, including their shared children, Izzy Oona, 8, and Max Charles, 5.
For his second wedding, the Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F star wore a white Brioni suit, while Butcher donned a corseted gown featuring lace designed by Mira Zwillinger, per photographs obtained by People. The Shrek actor first began dating Butcher in 2012, and they announced their engagement in 2018.
Ahead of their Caribbean nuptials, fans had been speculating if the pair had said, "I do," because of a June 2024 podcast appearance Murphy made. While speaking with The New York Times podcast The Interview, Murphy referred to Butcher as his "wife" on more than one occasion.
He said he and his wife enjoy watching "singing competitions like The Masked Singer" together. The comedian also joked that he is "out of touch" and often defers to Butcher for that kind of information. "I used to be so hip, I used to know who everybody was, and now there's just so much stuff," Murphy said. "I ask my wife, 'Who's this person?'"
Earlier in June, Murphy was supported by Butcher as he hit the red carpet for the premiere of his latest Netflix film. To celebrate Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, the couple were also joined by Murphy's daughters with ex-wife Nicole Mitchell, Bria, 34, Shayne Audra, 29, and Bella Zahra, 22.
Murphy and Butcher often prefer to stay out of the public eye, but the mother-of-two did say how "romantic" her partner was when they stepped out for the Golden Globes in 2020.
When asked what Murphy said when Butcher came down the stairs in her look for the evening, she was quick to say how he complimented her, which he often does. "He's very, very sweet and romantic," she said. "He says that kind of stuff all the time."
