Prince William and Princess Kate have released a new photograph of their two youngest children after England's soccer team faced a high-pressure final in a European tournament on Sunday.

In a photo posted to the Wales family's official social media accounts on Monday, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis were seen watching the UEFA Euros 2024 final match between Spain and England on TV while wearing matching personalized jerseys.

The England team lost the match 2-1 against the Spanish players, with William and Kate authoring a personal message of support to the team alongside the photo.

"England, your teamwork, grit and determination were an inspiration to all of us, young and old," they wrote before signing off with their initials. "Congratulations to Spain. W & C"

Both William and Kate experienced a sports-centric Sunday on July 14.

Kate made her second official appearance of the year following her cancer diagnosis to attend the men's singles final match at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships with Charlotte.

The mother-daughter duo watched from the center court's royal box as returning champion Carlos Alcaraz, 21, beat seven-time Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic.

In Germany, William was accompanied by the couple's eldest son, Prince George, as he watched the UEFA Euros 2024 final in person at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.

Britain's new Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, joined the royals at the match. Spain's King Filipe VI and his youngest daughter, Infanta Sofía, were also in attendance.

The new photo of Charlotte and Louis watching the soccer match from home is a touching insight into the Wales family's life behind palace walls, which they have tentatively increased since Queen Elizabeth II's death in 2022 and William and Kate's accession to the positions of Prince and Princess of Wales.

In 2023, the couple released an unprecedented behind-the-scenes video showing clips of the family's preparations at Kensington Palace on the morning of King Charles III's coronation.

These insights have continued with touching photo releases, including most recently, an image taken by Princess Kate of William and the couple's three children, which was published on social media with a message from Kate marking her husband's 42nd birthday.

The photo releases follow a Photoshop scandal that enveloped Kensington Palace after an image of Kate and her children issued in March to mark Mother's Day in Britain was found to contain traces of image manipulation.

As the first photo of Kate to be released since December following time out of the public eye while she recovered from abdominal surgery, it sparked a wave of concern and conspiracy theories about her health and whereabouts.

The princess issued an apology, saying, "Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing."

Since a number of official photo agencies issued "kill" notices to news outlets, asking them not to use the Mother's Day photo, William and Kate have released images privately through their social media instead of distributing them traditionally through the agencies.

Two weeks after the Mother's Day scandal, Kate issued a public statement about her health, revealing her cancer diagnosis.

Both William and Kate are big sports fans. In addition to tennis and soccer, the couple and their children share a love of rugby (Kate is a patron of England rugby and William of Wales) and sailing.
