King Charles III and Queen Camilla reportedly pulled out of a royal engagement early due to a security scare.

The king and queen were visiting Jersey, in the Channel Islands. The scare was serious enough to spark an investigation but was ultimately judged to be a false alarm.

The drama follows a failed assassination attempt on former U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday, which may have contributed to a cautious approach with Charles' protection team.

Rebecca English, royal editor of the Daily Mail, who was on the ground in Jersey, wrote on X, formerly Twitter: "The King and Queen have been forced to cut short an engagement on Jersey after a security scare. However it turned out to be a false alarm and the couple soon continued with their programme of engagements.

"Buckingham Palace did not comment officially but it is understood there was a 'small issue of concern.'"

"An investigation was initiated but it turned out to be a false alarm. Sources said every precaution was taken and the programme resumed shortly afterwards."
