When it comes to fashion, Kim Kardashian is known for making headlines, but her latest style choice at a high-profile Indian wedding has sparked a backlash not for its flair — but for its faux pas. The reality star, 43, attended the lavish wedding of Indian billionaire heir Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant in Mumbai, where her choice to wear red — an honor traditionally reserved for the bride in India — set social media ablaze.

Posting to Instagram on Sunday, July 14, the mom of four shared a carousel of images with the caption, "India has my ❤️." Dripping in diamonds, the Kardashians star was nothing short of dazzling. She flaunted not one, but two scarlet ensembles over the weekend, debuting a red lehenga during Friday's ceremony and a dramatic red outfit with a long veil for Sunday's event. Yet, despite the glitz and glam, it was the color that caught everyone's eye and ire.

"I'm Mexican & even I know your NOT supposed to wear Red to an Indian wedding🤦🏻‍♀️" a user commented.

"Wearing red to an Indian wedding is diabolical....," said another, while a third stated, "Not supposed to wear red to a weddding in India. That's saved for the bride."

Ambani and Merchant, both 29, tied the knot in a grand celebration that spoke volumes of their deep-rooted connection, having transformed their childhood friendship into a loving partnership over the years. After their public debut as a couple in 2018 — following graduations from Brown and New York Universities — their relationship has been one that's been the admiration of many.

The main wedding ceremony began on Friday, July 12, and brought together a handful of high-profile guests, including famous celebrities, politicians, and influential business people. In addition to Kardashian, Nick Jonas, Priyanka Chopra, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, and John Cena were also in attendance for the festivities.

While Kardashian's red attire sparked debate online, it appeared to be no issue for the Ambanis at the wedding. She was seen warmly interacting with the bride and groom, as well as their family, suggesting they welcomed her choice with open arms.
