Mark Hamill has been criticized online after he made fun of the bandage on Donald Trump's right ear.

On Saturday afternoon there was an assassination attempt made against Trump when he, the presumptive Republican nominee, was speaking at his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

After shots were fired, the former president was seen grabbing his right ear as security agents flocked to protect him. The suspected gunman, now identified by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, was shot and killed by the Secret Service.

On Monday night, Trump appeared at the Republican National Convention wearing a large bandage over his right ear—and Hamill has made fun of him for it.

Newsweek emailed individual spokespeople for Hamill and Trump for comment on Tuesday.

"1st APPEARANCE of ludicrously oversized ear bandage, apparently not needed prior to tonight [ear emoji and rolling on the floor laughing emoji]," the Star Wars actor posted on X (formerly Twitter) alongside a close-up photo of Trump with his bandage. The term "ludicrously oversized" is a reference to a joke made in the TV series Succession.

At the time of writing, the post had been viewed 3.5 million times and had received thousands of comments, with many slamming Hamill.

"You would've s*** yourself and cried in the fetal position, needing Secret Service to carry you out and coddle you with a milk bottle. You wouldn't know about oversized anything, as the mushroom and marbles in your pants are your only reference," one Trump supporter wrote.

"Mark Hamill is a weak little man that is filled with hate and anger," a different X user commented.

A third person added: "It's so depressing how lame Luke Skywalker is in real life."

However, others showed their support for Hamill, with many agreeing with his sentiment.

"Images from earlier today had no bandage, no visible wound that I could see," a different person said.

"Exactly. They could've just used one of these. To cover his alleged 'wound,'" one person commented, alongside photos of two small, circular Band-Aids.

"We're supposed to believe his ear received a hit from an AR-15 [eye roll emoji]," someone else wrote.

It is not the first time the actor—who is a staunch supporter of President Joe Biden—has condemned Trump online, as he is a vocal critic of the former president. On April 9, he said he would be voting for Biden in the 2024 election.

"BREAKING: Mark Hamill has announced he will be supporting President Biden over Donald tRump," he posted on X.

In May, he posted a series of pro-Biden and anti-Trump political messages that appeared to be in preparation for May 4—a special occasion for Star Wars fans who celebrate it as "May the Fourth" due to a resemblance to the film quote "may the force be with you."

"May The First Not Quench Your Thirst For Biden's Re-election! #BidenHarris2024," Hamill posted on May 1.

"May The Second Biden Administration Be As Productive and Successful As The 1st," he wrote the following day.

"May The Third Be Absurd That The Guy Who Tried To Steal A Fair Election Is Allowed To Run Again," reads Hamill's post from May 3. This was also the same day that he praised Biden as "Joe-bi Wan Kenobi" during a surprise appearance at the White House. The actor arrived to the press conference wearing Biden-supplied sunglasses and hailed the president's legislative track record.

On May 4, he uploaded a photo of himself and the president in the White House with the caption: "May The Fourth Be The Day A Make-Believe Defender Of The Galaxy Met A Real-Life Defender Of Democracy."
