Who says R-rated movies are just for adults? Not Ryan Reynolds. The charismatic actor, 47, recently shared how watching the latest Deadpool & Wolverine film turned into an unforgettable bonding session with his 9-year-old daughter, James, and his mother, Tammy Reynolds. This unique family movie night sparked laughter and tears, proving that sometimes, the best moments come from breaking the rules.

"I'm not saying that other people should do this, but my 9-year-old watched the movie with me and my mom, who's in her late 70s, and it was just one of the best moments of this whole experience for me," Reynolds, 47, said in an interview with The New York Times published Monday, July 15. "Both of them were laughing their guts out, were feeling the emotion where I most desperately hoped people would be," he added.

The movie star shares daughters James, Inez, 7, and Betty, 4, with his wife, actress Blake Lively. The pair, who tied the knot in 2012, welcomed their fourth little one last year, whose name and sex have yet to be released to the public.

Reynolds went on to say that he allowed his daughter to watch the R-rated film because of his own experiences growing up. "When I saw rated-R movies as a kid, they left a huge impression on me because I didn't feel like people were pulling punches, and it's been a huge inspiration to so many of the things that I look to make now," he told the outlet.

The latest installment in the Deadpool series, which teams up Reynolds with Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, is Disney's first R-rated release since their acquisition of the characters from 20th Century Fox — which released the first two Deadpool films — in March, 2019. The Free Guy actor felt it was important for Deadpool & Wolverine to have an R rating not only to deliver shock and awe, but so that director Shawn Levy could tell a "much more authentic" story than if he were "bound by a PG-13 rating."

Deadpool & Wolverine rolls out in theaters July 26.
