Dick Van Dyke may be nearing a century in age, but his heart remains as youthful as ever, especially when he talks about his wife, Arlene Silver. Despite a 46-year age gap, this duo is proving that age is just a number, and love knows no bounds.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight published Tuesday, July 16, the legendary actor, 98, couldn't help but reminisce about the moment he met Silver, 52, back in 2006 at the SAG Awards. Silver, a makeup artist, caught his eye immediately. "I never approached a strange woman in my life," Van Dyke shared. "And she walked by and I jumped and said, 'Hi, I'm Dick.' I had no idea she was half my age. Beautiful."

It was her last business card that she handed to him that day, a token that Van Dyke would cherish as it marked the beginning of their unexpected journey. "She had one [business] card left, which I took and hired her," he noted. Initially, their relationship was purely professional, but a deep friendship soon flourished.

Reflecting on the progression of their relationship, Silver explained how their friendship laid a solid foundation for romance. "We were friends for so long that when I told people that I know, they were happy about [our relationship], and I was scared," she admitted. "I mean, the facts, our age difference. But it's so irrelevant. I think when you see us together, it's like you don't think about it."

The couple's connection appears so natural and effortless that it seems they sometimes forget the decades between them. "We don't think about it, we just meet in the middle," Silver said, a sentiment echoed by Van Dyke who humorously added, "I was fortunate that I didn't grow up."

Their love story is filled with joyful moments, many of which involve music. Silver, who had never performed publicly before meeting Van Dyke, now finds joy in singing alongside her husband. "He got me to sing. He got me to sing on a stage and sang in front of 1,500 people for the first time," she shared. According to her, Van Dyke is "always happy and just positive." Gushing, Silver went on to say, "he's just the most joyful person."
