How often do you get to see a music icon and her kids light up the red carpet? Madonna, alongside her 11-year-old twins Stella and Estere, recently turned heads at the New York City premiere of Deadpool & Wolverine, making it a family affair to remember.
On Monday, July 22, the trio stepped out in high style, blending casual cool with classic glamour. The 65-year-old trendsetter opted for a sleek, all-black ensemble, pairing her outfit with her signature dark shades. Her twin tweens brought their own flair to the event — Stella rocked oversized jeans and a baseball cap, complete with a scarf, while Estere mixed it up with a white Everlast jersey and baggy maroon shorts.
The twins, who usually steer clear of the limelight, looked completely at ease as they posed for pictures with some of the biggest names of the night, including Deadpool & Wolverine stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.
Adopted from Malawi at age 5 in February 2017, Stella and Estere have since found their groove in the bustling world of showbiz under their mother's nurturing guidance. In past interviews, the Grammy-winning musician has expressed how seamlessly her daughters have integrated into the family. "It's like they were always here," Madonna told People in September 2017. "It didn't take long for them to get acclimated."
The proud-mom-of-six dropping in with her pre-teens wasn't entirely unexpected, given that her iconic track "Like a Prayer" lends a remixed beat to a key scene in the film. On Friday, July 19, the superhero duo shared in an interview with Jess Cagle on SiriusXM how they, along with director Shawn Levy, personally pitched the song's inclusion to the songstress.
"It did involve a personal visit to Madonna, where we showed Madonna the sequence where 'Like a Prayer' would be used," Levy, 56, explained. "Also, let's preface it with the fact that they don't license — that Madonna doesn't just license the song, particularly that song," Reynolds, 47, added. "It was a big deal to ask for it and certainly a bigger deal to use it. We went over and met with her and sort of showed her how it was being used, and where, and why."
The original Material Girl didn't just give the thumbs up for her chart-topping hit to feature in the film; she also pitched in with some savvy advice. Reynolds shared how she pinpointed exactly what the scene needed: "She watched it, and I'm not kidding, [she said], 'You need to do this, this, and this.' And damn it, if she wasn't like, spot on," the Deadpool actor said. "We literally went into a new recording session within 48 hours to do this note," Levy added. "It made the sequence better."
Deadpool & Wolverine soars into theaters on Friday, July 26.
