Who knew a ringtone could cause such a stir? Travis Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs' tight end and beau of pop superstar Taylor Swift, has held onto a ringtone that's as distinctive as it is nostalgic — and fans are absolutely loving the throwback.

The buzz started when Patrick Mahomes, quarterback for the Chiefs, reshared a video on X (formerly Twitter). The clip, originally posted by the New Heights podcast hosted by the Kelce brothers, captures a moment from 2015. In it, Kelce's phone rings during an interview, not with a typical ringtone, but with the distinctive shriek of Star Wars' R2-D2 — a sound unmistakably recognized by fans everywhere. The caption reminisced, "Trav had the greatest ringtone of all time in 2015." Adding to the fun, 28-year-old Mahomes not only reposted the clip, but also revealed, "That man still has that ringtone lol."

The revelation quickly sparked a frenzy among fans and followers. Social media exploded with reactions ranging from shocked laughter to bemused comments. "ALMOST 10 YEARS LATER OMFG 😭," commented one fan, capturing the surprise of many. Another person joked about the durability of such a choice: "You don't pay 99 cents for a ringtone then just get rid of it."

The humor wasn't lost on anyone, with another commenter pointing out the sheer randomness of hearing R2D2's cries in a quiet moment: "Lmaoooo hearing that in complete silence gotta be wild."

Suggestions for updating the ringtone have also poured in, with some Swifties playfully proposing that Kelce should switch to a clip from one of Swift's hits like "Blank Space" or perhaps the "RATATATA" from "I Did Something Bad" to keep it in the family.

Whether he switches his ringtone or not, the Super Bowl champ's choice has definitely struck a chord with fans around the globe.
