British TV personality Piers Morgan has criticized Barack and Michelle Obama's endorsement video for Kamala Harris in the 2024 election, calling it "cheesy."

Barack Obama ended days of speculation when he endorsed Harris for president, saying that he and his wife Michelle Obama are "going to do everything we can to make sure she wins in November."

The former president made the announcement via a post on X (formerly Twitter), which was accompanied by a 55-second video showing Barack and Michelle Obama speaking to Harris on the phone and offering her their support. It went viral online, with 27.8 million views online, but Morgan isn't impressed.

Newsweek emailed spokespeople for Morgan, Barack Obama and Harris for comment on Friday.

"OMG. I'm [sic] seen some cheesy political videos in my time, but this Obama endorsement of Kamala is full-on Gorgonzola," he posted on X.

At the time of writing, Morgan's post had been viewed 515,400 times.

Morgan also included the endorsement video in his post, in which Michelle Obama said: "I can't have this phone call without saying to my girl Kamala: I am proud of you. This is going to be historic."

Barack Obama then added: "We called to say Michelle and I couldn't be prouder to endorse you and to do everything we can to get you through this election and into the Oval Office."

In response, Harris said, "Michelle, Barack, this means so much to me. I am looking forward to doing this with the two of you, Doug and I both, and getting out there, being on the road.

"But most of all I just want to tell you that the words you have spoken and the friendship that you have given over all these years mean more than I can express."

When Barack Obama shared the video to X he wrote: "Earlier this week, Michelle and I called our friend Kamala Harris. We told her we think she'll make a fantastic President of the United States, and that she has our full support. At this critical moment for our country, we're going to do everything we can to make sure she wins in November. We hope you'll join us."

This isn't the first time Morgan has weighed in on U.S. politics, as he previously branded Whoopi Goldberg "pathetic" for pretending to spit after mistakenly saying Donald Trump's name during a discussion on The View.

Goldberg has been referring to Trump as "You-Know-Who" when discussing the former president with her fellow panelists on the ABC daytime program. The actor has publicly criticized the former president on multiple occasions over the years.

However, her form slipped on a June episode of the show as she spoke about the upcoming presidential debate, back when Biden was still the Democratic nomination for president.

"I think it would be remiss of us to not say, Joe Biden knows how to do this," Oscar winner Goldberg said. "He knows how to do this, he's quite good at this. You can't refute anything with him—when I say him, I mean..."

After Goldberg trailed off, co-host Joy Behar said: "Trump," prompting the Ghost star to also say: "Trump."

"Ugh," Goldberg exclaimed, before taking a mid-sentence pause as she pretended to spit on the stage.

Reacting to a clip of the moment that was shared on X, Morgan, who won the 2008 edition of Trump's Celebrity Apprentice, wrote: "So pathetic."
