Are future soccer stars made or born? For Sterling Skye Mahomes, it seems the answer might be a bit of both. At just 3 years old, the daughter of NFL superstar Patrick Mahomes and former professional soccer player Brittany Mahomes is lacing up her cleats and hitting the soccer field.

On Thursday, July 25, Brittany, 28, lit up Instagram Stories with a snapshot of Sterling's neon pink soccer gear, from socks to shin guards, all ready for her very first soccer practice. "She's gonna be the brightest one out there let me tell ya," Brittany beamed on social media.

It's no surprise that Sterling is showing an early interest in soccer. In an interview with E! News published Sunday, July 14, Patrick, also 28, shared that, "I didn't even have to prepare her." He explained that their visits to Kansas City Current games, a team the couple co-owns, have been more than just entertaining outings. "She literally started just kicking soccer balls into the goal. We never taught her how to kick, never taught her how to play. That's just who she is."

While Sterling is just beginning her journey, the Mahomes' younger son, Bronze, is still exploring his interests, not quite ready to follow in his big sister's or parents' athletic footsteps just yet. At 19 months old, he's just getting the hang of walking, let alone running after a soccer ball. "We're getting there," Patrick noted. "He's still at the age we're trying to get him to crawl."

But it's clear that sports play a role in the Mahomes household. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback has expressed his hope that both Sterling and Bronze — and soon their new sibling on the way — will find their own passion for sports. "Obviously, I want them to play sports," he said. "I think there's a lot of values that you can learn from playing sports of all kinds."

As for Sterling, she's already on her way, making her parents proud and perhaps, in time, becoming a soccer star in her own right. Patrick can't help but marvel at her natural abilities, "It's been really cool to see her grow up and see her try to mimic things that I do." He went on to say, "I try to swing the golf club around her as much as possible, so one day I could take her out to the course with me."
