Billionaire Mark Cuban conducted some research in an attempt to prove one of his theories true.

The vocal business owner asserted that the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, had become more conservative in recent years.

"think the man is right. @X is MAGA country. So let's do a poll and find out!" Cuban wrote on a repost of a user named Vince Langman, who is self-described as "ultra MAGA."

MAGA is an acronym for the tag line "Make America Great Again," used by former President Donald Trump during his 2016 White House run, and has since become synonymous with his most fervent followers.

Lagman had written: "8.8 million followers and his own poll is getting ratioed. Run this poll on Threads loser, X is MAGA country," in response to another poll conducted by Cuban who had asked if Vice President Kamala Harris or Trump were the most "low energy [presidential] candidate." Harris is the presumptive Democratic nominee after President Joe Biden stepped out of the race.

Cuban then ran a poll asking: "Is @X MAGA country?" in which 66.1 percent of the almost 240,000 votes agreed.

He then conducted the same poll on Threads—X's competition owned by Mark Zuckerberg's Meta—and claimed to get different results entirely.

"Turned out exactly as I expected. This is @X It's not real world. And that's the point. I did the exact same poll on @threads at the exact same time. Completely different out come. Also expected. The most interesting difference isn't the survey. It's the level of hate in replies. Also expected," he wrote in another post on X.

Cuban then later expanded on his thoughts about the poll, admitting, "Twitter is obviously bigger" than Threads, "but the engagement on politics is often (not always) higher quality over there."

"It's really hard to have a discussion about a political topic here. The bots and hate overwhelm the thread," Cuban continued.

"They have some far left and right crazies over there, but they don't overwhelm any threads. Twitter has far greater diversity of topics."

He added: "The issue is The MAGA bots will still jump in just to be a nuisance on random topics. They will also auto post on every thread I prefer not to block accounts. But the auto posts get blocked. So most of my time on here is reading pharmacy and healthcare related posts. When I post related to politics I expect the trolls to come out."

Cuban contacted Newsweek by email for comment.

Research conducted by the Pew Center in 2023 found that since Elon Musk bought the site the year before, Republican Americans' opinions about X have "become much more positive, while those of their Democratic counterparts have grown more negative."
