Justin Timberlake's friend who had been partying with him tried to get the pop star out of his drunk driving arrest last month in the Hamptons, according to a new report.

Sources tell TMZ that a woman and her husband whom Timberlake, 43, was following in his car after their night out circled back around when they saw the Can't Stop The Feeling singer get pulled over by police.

Officials claim they watched Timberlake run through a stop sign in Sag Harbor and swerve at least twice from behind the wheel. Timberlake, who refused to take a breath test following his arrest, is alleged to have been leaving a party shortly after midnight on June 18.

In court documents, police said they stopped Timberlake and observed that his eyes were "bloodshot and glassy." Police also stated that "a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath."

The woman reportedly got out of her car and started questioning police, allegedly asking one officer, "Are you going to arrest Justin Timberlake?"

The TMZ sources also said the woman asked cops if she could just take Timberlake back to their house where he was going to spend the night, but they arrested him instead. The woman who had also allegedly been partying with the star was allowed by the cops to get in Timberlake's rental car and drive it away, sources said.

Timberlake's attorney Edward Burke Jr. declined to comment Monday when contacted by Newsweek.

A previous report by Page Six claimed Timberlake's arresting officer did not know who he was. The pop star allegedly said under his breath at the time of his arrest, "This is going to ruin the tour." The cop asked, "What tour?" and Timberlake replied, "The world tour."

The former boy bander had a court hearing on Friday but did not attend as his "Forget Tomorrow World Tour" had two shows in Poland. Burke appeared on his behalf and asked to dismiss the case based on what he called a procedurally "defective" criminal complaint filed by Timberlake's arresting officer, Deadline reported

Burke claimed the "young" and "part-time" officer failed to have a supervising officer sign off on the criminal complaint.

In a statement to Newsweek on Friday, Burke claimed, "The most important fact to know about this case is that Justin was not intoxicated and should not have been arrested for DWI."

"The police made a number of very significant errors in this case. In court today, you heard the district attorney try to fix one of those errors. But that's just one and there are many others. Sometimes the police make mistakes and this is just one of those instances."

The statement continues, "Justin respects law enforcement and the very important job that they do. He cooperated with the police officers at all times and treated them with the respect they deserve. He also respects the entire judicial process including the District Attorney and Judge who were in court today."

"But the fact remains, he was not intoxicated and they made an error in arresting him for it. We are confident that this charge will be dismissed," Burke concluded.

Timberlake will be virtually arraigned on August 2 as his tour continues in Europe.
