Erica Ash, known for her roles in Starz's Survivor's Remorse, BET's Real Husbands of Hollywood, and In Contempt died on Monday at 46 after a long battle with cancer.
"Erica was an amazing woman and talented entertainer who touched countless lives with her sharp wit, humor and genuine zest for life," her family said in a statement to Deadline. "Her memory will live eternally in our hearts."
Born in Florida on September 19, 1977, Ash gained prominence on The Big Gay Sketch Show and Mad TV. She appeared in films such as Scary Movie V and Uncle Drew.
Ash had notable TV roles in the parody series Real Husbands of Hollywood, which starred Kevin Hart, Duane Martin, Nick Cannon, JB Smoove, Nelly, and more, as well as Survivor's Remorse, Shades of Blue, and the legal drama In Contempt.
Her last TV role came in 2019 on The CW drama Legacies.
BET addressed Ash's death in a statement shared on Instagram, writing, "Today, #BETRemembers actress and comedienne Erica Ash who has passed away at the age of 46. Known for being equal parts witty and funny, Erica starred in BET favorites such as legal drama In Contempt and reality spoof Real Husbands of Hollywood."
"We send our deepest condolences and love to her parents, siblings, friends, and family," the statement continued alongside photos and videos of Ash. "Fly high Queen," the network's statement concluded.
Loni Love also paid tribute to Ash on Instagram.
"I am sad to confirm my friend and fellow actress Erica Ashe's passing.... Erica was talented and hilarious whether it was the show Survivor's Remorse or Madtv she would put her all into her work. She would always just be there.. now she's gone.. My sincere condolences to her family and fans," Love said.
Mike Epps, Ash's Survivor's Remorse remembered her on Instagram.
"RIP ERICA gone to soon she was such a great person to work with full of life and funny and talent you left a great mark on earth," he wrote.
Ash's death comes a few weeks after the iconic Beverly Hills 90201 actress Shannen Doherty died after her much-documented battle with cancer. She was 53.
Doherty, best known for her iconic role as Brenda Walsh in the teen '90s drama Beverly Hills 90210, was also one of the leads in Charmed and captivated audiences with her dynamic performances and strong screen presence.
"It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty. On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease," according to a statement from her publicist Leslie Sloane, cited by People magazine.
