Michelle Obama echoed a similar sentiment to Vice President Kamala Harris in a message about her late mother on Monday.

The former first lady of the United States penned a note via social media to Marian Robinson, who died on May 31 at the age of 86.

"Today would have been my mom's 87th birthday. These past couple of months have been tough without her, and I am so grateful for the outpouring of love you've shown our family along the way," Obama shared via Instagram and Facebook, alongside a photo with her mom. "Even though she's no longer with us, I still think she's worth celebrating.

"What I loved most about my mom might have been this: She always felt like she was enough," Obama continued. "The tiny two bedroom walk-up apartment we used to live in; the faux chimney she would fashion for us out of cardboard during the holidays; the at-home hair-dos she would give herself using the oven and a hot comb—she was always happy with what she had.

"And because she felt like she was enough, she could help others feel that too. She did that countless times for me and my brother Craig. She did it for her family and friends. She did it for the staff at the White House. She did it for everyone she knew."

Obama concluded the note: "So today, on her birthday, I am celebrating the immense power there was in her enoughness. And I am committing myself to carrying forward her legacy of lifting up others the best I can. Love you, mom. And happy birthday."

Obama's vow to honor her mother by "lifting up others" is the same pledge Harris made five years ago in a blog post.

In February 2019, Harris shared details about her visit to South Carolina in a Medium entry titled, "Road Recap: South Carolina." At the time, the Oakland, California, native was vying for the Democratic nomination for president.

"We started our Saturday in Columbia visiting local women-owned businesses—these women are incredible entrepreneurs and community leaders. I couldn't leave without buying this rainbow jacket!" Harris wrote next to a photo of the sequined coat.

"At one of the boutiques, I met a young South Carolinian who founded her own anti-bully organization called WEFE—With Everyone For Everyone. I took the WEFE pledge: kindness, respect, and lifting up others. We all could learn something from the WEFE Warriors these days."

Harris is the Democratic Party's presumptive presidential candidate for the 2024 election after receiving enough Democratic National Convention delegates. On Friday, she was endorsed by Obama and her husband, former President Barack Obama.

In a message shared to X, formerly Twitter, Barack Obama wrote: "Earlier this week, Michelle and I called our friend @KamalaHarris. We told her we think she'll make a fantastic President of the United States, and that she has our full support. At this critical moment for our country, we're going to do everything we can to make sure she wins in November. We hope you'll join us."

At the time of publication, the post had been viewed more than 93.1 million times.

Following the endorsement, Harris' chances of winning the election were given a boost by bookmakers, with Bet365 and Sky Bet odds increasing from 40 percent to 42.1 and William Hill odds increasing from 42.1 percent to 44.4 percent.

Former President Donald Trump is the Republican presidential nominee for the November election.
