A scheduled court hearing on Monday to discuss Shiloh Jolie-Pitt's request to drop her father's last name faced a delay due to technical issues.

The legal proceeding, involving Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's daughter, was postponed from its original date of August 5 because the court did not complete the essential background check in time.

"Unfortunately, the court was unable to complete the background check ahead of today's hearing, so the hearing was rescheduled for August 19," Shiloh's lawyer, Peter Levine, shared with Page Six in an article published on Monday, July 29. He further explained that this situation is routine, as everyone seeking a name change must undergo a background check conducted by the court clerk. Due to a clerical error, Shiloh's hearing was pushed to a later date.

The 18-year-old filed to change her name from Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie on her 18th birthday in May. Demonstrating her independence, Shiloh paid for her own legal representation for this process.

Shiloh isn't the first of her siblings to distance herself from the "Pitt" surname. Her sisters, Zahara, 19, and Vivienne, 15, have also removed their father's name in various ways. However, Shiloh is the first among the six Jolie-Pitt children to seek a legal name change. Alongside Zahara and Vivienne, the Jolie-Pitt family includes sons Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, and Knox, 15.

The couple's son Pax was involved in an electric bike crash on Monday, July 29. The young adult reportedly crashed into a car stopped at a red light. This incident occurred around 5 PM during rush hour at Hobart and Los Feliz Boulevard, according to the LAPD and reported by TMZ. Pax, who was not wearing a helmet, sustained a head injury and hip pain, leading to hospitalization. Initially, there were concerns about a minor brain bleed, but the outlet later confirmed he was stable and expected to return home soon.
