Simone Biles' return to the Olympics so far has been a hit, with stars like Jessica Chastain, Ariana Grande, and Tom Cruise coming to Paris to show their support for the gold medalist. The gymnast, 27, withdrew from the 2020 Olympics to take a mental health break from her chosen sport (although she still managed to secure two medals in those games.)

Up till now, however, the audience of well-wishers has been missing one crucial face – Biles' husband, Jonathan Owens.

Owens, 29, is a football player on the Chicago Bears. When his schedule finally allowed him to head to Paris, he wanted the world to know how excited he was to see his wife. He posted a sleepy-looking selfie while on the plane to Paris on Monday, July 29, with his wedding ring prominently featured. Wearing a black hoodie and clutching a pillow, he held up a peace sign. "Coming for you baby," he wrote in the caption.

Owens and Biles met on a dating app in 2020, and got married in 2023–first at a courthouse ceremony in Houston, TX, and then a larger wedding in Cabo San Lucas with family and friends. Owens' Instagram has frequently featured shoutouts to his wife, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest athletes of all time.

In her Netflix docuseries, Simone Biles Rising, Biles discussed how Owens was a shoulder for her to lean on when she was getting ready to return to gymnastics. "Post Tokyo, Jonathan was just like, I mean, he always has a good head on his shoulders, and he's like, 'You'll get back to where you were,' and made sure I was staying on top of my training."

Today, Owens was able to cheer on his wife in person. He was spotted in the crowd in Paris today along with Biles' parents, Nellie and Ronald Biles. Owens wore a t-shirt with his wife's picture on it and was seen to be taking notes during her performance.
