Stephen King has expressed concern after the Supreme Court ruled that Donald Trump has "some immunity" from prosecution.

On Monday, the Supreme Court ruled that former presidents have immunity for official acts conducted while in office, but not for unofficial acts. The ruling was related to the Department of Justice's election interference case, in which the 78-year-old is accused of attempting to overturn the 2020 general election. Trump has denied any wrongdoing and has repeatedly said the case is part of a political witch hunt aimed at derailing his presidential bid.

In response to the news, King took to X, formerly Twitter, to blast the decision.

"In the name of 'originalism,' Trump's Supreme Court has taken a wrecking ball to the Constitution," the horror author said in a post that has received more than 1.2 million views. Newsweek has emailed Trump's campaign team for comment.

In a follow-up post shared an hour later, the 76-year-old added: "Thanks to the Supreme Court, the next president will have the powers of a king.

"That's not what the founders intended. Quite the opposite," King wrote.

He continued: "Overturning Roe [vs. Wade over abortion rights] took power from women. Today's decision takes power from all of us."

King is a vocal critic of Trump. In 2016, King was one of 450 writers to sign an open letter slamming the Republican's candidacy, and he has regularly criticized the politician on X.

In May, the author called Trump a "Crookedy-crook-crook-crook," after the real-estate magnate was found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records, reportedly to hide "hush money" payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels.

Daniels said that she and Trump had a one-night stand in 2006. The former president has denied the affair allegations and pleaded not guilty in the New York criminal trial.

In June, King accused Trump of lying, after the former president said that Joe Biden authorized the FBI to "use deadly lethal force" during the August 2018 search of his home in Mar-a-Lago, Florida.

The FBI search was in relation to Trump's classified documents case. The business mogul is accused of storing White House documentation in his Mar-a-Lago residence after leaving office in January 2021.

Although the term "use of deadly force" was included in the FBI operations order for the Mar-a-Lago search, the policy is standard Department of Justice procedure and is designed to prevent excessive use of force.

"Trump's claim that FBI agents were authorized to shoot him is a big f****** lie," King wrote on X.

On Friday, The Shining author shared his thoughts on the first presidential debate between Trump and Biden, slamming the former's performance.

"When the debate began, Trump made a degree of sense," King said on X.

"As he loosened up, his lies grew more grandiose. There came a point near the end where, as a writer of fiction, I could almost admire his medicine show chutzpah."
