Justin Timberlake pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor drunk driving charge Friday in a virtual New York court, stemming from his June 18 DWI arrest.

Deadline reports Sag Harbor Village Justice Carl Irace also suspended the 43-year-old "SexyBack" singer's permission to drive in New York. His attorney, Edward D. Burke Jr., also withdrew his previous motion to dismiss the case.

The next court hearing is a lawyer conference set for August 9.

Newsweek has contacted Burke and the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office for comment.

Friday's arraignment comes one week after Burke appeared on Timberlake's behalf with a motion to dismiss the case based on what the lawyer called a procedurally "defective" criminal complaint filed by Timberlake's arresting officer. He claimed the "young" and "part-time" officer failed to have a supervising officer sign off on the criminal complaint.

Timberlake did not appear in court in any manner on July 26 as his "Forget Tomorrow World Tour" was in Kraków, Poland that day. The former boy-band star continues performances in Antwerp, Belgium, on Saturday and Sunday, followed by shows in the UK next week.

Burke claimed in a statement to Newsweek on July 26, "The most important fact to know about this case is that Justin was not intoxicated and should not have been arrested for DWI."

Timberlake was arrested in the Hamptons on June 18. Police claimed they watched him run a stop light, swerve multiple times, and fail to maintain his lane while driving his BMW through the village after midnight.

In what has become an infamous moment on social media, Timberlake allegedly said under his breath at the time of his arrest, "This is going to ruin the tour." The arresting officer, who reportedly did not know the singer, asked, "What tour?" and Timberlake replied, "The world tour," Page Six reported.

Timberlake refused to take a breathalyzer test following his arrest, allegedly telling officers, "I had one martini and followed my friends home." Police documents noted Timberlake's "bloodshot and glassy" eyes, the "strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath," and his poor performance on all standardized field sobriety tests.

Sources told TMZ last week that a woman and her husband whom Timberlake was following after their night out circled back around when they saw him get pulled over by police.

The woman reportedly got out of her car and started questioning police, allegedly asking one officer, "Are you going to arrest Justin Timberlake?"

Police allowed the woman, who had reportedly been drinking with Timberlake, to get in his car and drive it away from the scene, the sources said.

Burke declined to comment on this report on Monday when contacted by Newsweek.

Alcohol also got Timberlake in trouble in 2019 when paparazzi caught him holding hands with his "Palmer" costar Alisha Wainwright in New Orleans. Timberlake publicly apologized to his wife Jessica Biel, 42, in a lengthy Instagram caption, admitting he "drank way too much that night" but "nothing happened between me and my costar."
