A social media post by Mark Hamill about making MAGA "nervous" is gaining traction online.

The post on X, formerly Twitter, was in response to one from Republicans for Harris (@repsforharris) which said: "Hey @MarkHamill, do you think we can hit 70,000 followers tonight? We think it's a good night to make MAGA nervous. #RepublicansForHarris."

In response, Hamill posted: "You can do it, @RepsForHarris! And thank you for putting country over party. PS: EVERY night is a good night to make MAGA nervous."

The original post has since garnered over half a million views on X and 1,500 reposts from users of the platform. Republicans for Harris has also gained over the desired 70,000 followers.

Newsweek reached out to Mark Hamill's agent and Kamala Harris' spokesperson via email outside of working hours on Monday for comment.

The celebrated actor best known for his iconic role as Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars saga, has been openly critical of the Trump administration and is a vocal and active supporter of Vice President Kamala Harris, the presumptive Democratic nominee for president.

Harris' presidential campaign launched Republicans for Harris on Sunday in the hope of attracting GOP voters who do not want to vote for their party's nominee, former president Donald Trump, in November.

Hamill is no stranger to political commentary. Over the years, he has been vocal about his views, often using his social media presence to engage in political discourse. His post is the latest in support for Harris and the Democrats. The cover photo on his X account endorses Harris with the words "Harris for President."

The actor's "make MAGA nervous" post has received over 480,000 views and more than 500 comments so far.

@repsforharris commented: "Those are good words to live by. Glad to be in the fight with you to make @KamalaHarris the next president of the United States. #RepublicansForHarris."

User @jeffandcherry posted a picture of Harris with the words, "We fight, we win."

"Followed them to stop #Project2025," @aspiejames commented.

X user @jefflemberger34 posted: Hey @RepsForHarris I applaud and support you! I see that Mark Hamill is supporting you as well, so that is good enough for me. Anybody that Mark supports, I will support...#RepsForHarris #VoteBlueToSaveDemocracy #Harris2024."

However, not everyone came out in support of Hamill's post. Many referenced the fact that Hamill is an actor, intimating that he should not be involved in politics.

@socratessword posted: "Once again Mark, you have not been relevant since 1980."

"Country over party? That is exactly what the Democrats have been doing and with selection of Harris, who NO ONE has voted for, that is exactly what they are showing the country. Oh Luke, it's ironic that you ended up choosing the dark side after all," @gregsilrunik wrote.

Republicans for Harris will be a "campaign within a campaign," according to the Associated Press, particularly targeting Republicans who voted for former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley in the primaries. Harris' election campaign told the AP that Republicans backing Harris will soon join her and her currently unnamed running mate at events.

Harris' national director of Republican outreach, Austin Weatherford, told the AP that the campaign will be "showing up and taking the time every single day to earn the vote of Republicans who believe in putting country over party and know that every American deserves a president who will protect their freedoms and a commander in chief who will put the best interests of the American people above their own."
