The moment Prince William had his red-carpet fashion critiqued by fans has gone viral, after footage from a rare movie-industry event with Princess Kate resurfaced on TikTok.

William and Kate have become less visible as a couple so far in 2024 as the princess took a step out of the public eye after being diagnosed with cancer and beginning a course of preventive chemotherapy.

On June 15, royal fans delighted in Kate's first official appearance of the year as she stood beside her husband on the balcony of Buckingham Palace in London to participate in the annual Trooping the Colour celebrations.

In the absence of regular new appearances by the royal duo, fans on social media have reflected on highlights from throughout the couple's 13-year marriage so far, sharing archive video footage and photos from engagements and events.

Uploaded to TikTok by user @kittywaless on July 23, footage of William and Kate walking the red carpet at the BAFTA Film Awards in 2020 has been included in a viral compilation that has been viewed over 2.7 million times so far.

According to the order of precedent, William and Kate walked the red carpet last of all at London's Royal Albert Hall for the celebrity-studded event. The prince is BAFTA's president, a role he was given by Queen Elizabeth II in 2010.

As the couple walked up the steps of the venue, fan footage captured the moment onlookers offered Kate a glowing compliment on her appearance.

"Kate, you look beautiful," they said as the princess navigated the steps in a floor-length Alexander McQueen gown embroidered all over with hibiscus flowers, which had originally been worn for a visit to Malaysia in 2012.

Walking along side her, William looked ahead until the group offered their own opinions of his appearance for the event. "You too, Wills!" they said to which the prince offered a blushing inaudible retort.

The humorous clip is followed in the viral post by others showing the prince and princess at official events.

The video has received in excess of 392,000 likes and over 165 comments, many of which have offered praise for the royal couple and their dynamic.

"Lmao [laughing my a** off] them laughing after they said: 'So do you Will,'" wrote one user.

"They are perfect for each other. He has his mothers sense of humor," posted another, with a further comment reading: "I just love them both."
