Zac Efron suffered a harrowing pool accident while on vacation in Ibiza this past weekend. Though he appeared to be in good spirits after the accident, alleged details have since shown how serious the incident seems to be.

According to TMZ's sources, it all began when the Iron Claw actor, 36, went swimming with friends early in the morning on Saturday, August 3. Efron dived so deep into the water, per the sources, that water filled up his lungs when he hit the bottom of the pool. The publication reports that Efron was showing signs of distress and was pulled out of the water by onsite security.

Efron was reportedly taken to the hospital shortly after, as he was "momentarily dazed." After reportedly taking an x-ray, the imaging indicated that the water had moved from his lungs. Efron was cleared for release, but reportedly stayed in the hospital a few hours after being cleared, as photographers and reporters had caught wind that he was in the hospital.

The next day, Efron posted a picture of himself on his Instagram laying on an exercise ball and working out, while lifting weights. "Happy and healthy," he wrote on his Story, "thanks for the well wishes."

TMZ reports that Efron resumed his schedule as normal, and had dinner with friends in Ibiza on Sunday night, August 4

Following the incident, Efron appears to be back home in the States, as Page Six reported that he was seen arriving at an airport in Miami Tuesday, August 6.

While it's been a busy year for Efron — who, in addition to the accident, has starred in buzzy movies Ricky Stanicky, and A Family Affair — this isn't the first time the actor got into a scary situation while overseas. Back in 2019, Efron fell ill while filming in Papua New Guinea as a result of a bacterial infection.
