Acclaimed author Stephen King has once again used his social media platform to weigh in on political matters, this time with a succinct five-word message.

On Tuesday, King took to X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday to express his support for Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as Vice President Kamala Harris's running mate in the 2024 presidential election.

King's message was brief but clear: "Harris/Walz: Good ticket. Strong."

The comment was added to a reposted message from Harris showing a video of her calling Walz to offer him the position of running mate.

"When I called @Tim_Walz this morning to ask him to join our campaign, I shared my deep level of respect for him and the work we've done together. We're going to unify this country and we're going to win," Harris posted.

King's post currently has 416,000 views and 12,000 likes, while Harris's original post has almost 10 million views.

Known for his outspoken views on various political issues, King's support for Walz adds a notable voice of support yet again by the Misery author for the Democratic ticket. King also reposted Harris's initial announcement that she had selected Walz.

Reactions to King's post were mixed. Some came out in support of Harris and Walz, while others expressed their support for the opposition.

"Definitely better than the other option," @Angelica_Reed1 wrote.

"Scary for MAGA," said @ELE_Network, adding a GIF of Jack Nicholson in The Shining.

"Trump/Vance: Great ticket, Stronger," said @TheHoleTweet.

"Harris/Walz: horrible ticket. The commie and the socialist. Americans will refuse this," commented @realeddmoo.

"If Stephen King was to write a book about Harris and Walz, he could call it 'Harris/Walz, The Nightmare of America,'" said @TheGeneral_0.

King has openly criticized former President Trump and the Republican Party on many occasions and spoken out in favor of Democrats and Harris as the presumptive Democratic presidential candidate.

Over the weekend, King went viral by accusing Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, of being "chickens***" after the former president pushed to change the date and broadcaster for the first debate with Harris.

"An elderly man afraid to debate a woman; hoping his base will bail him out," the Carrie author posted August 3 on X. "As kids, we called this kind of behavior chickens***."

Walz has served as governor of Minnesota since 2019. His leadership following the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis in 2020 and subsequent protests brought him into the national spotlight.

The Governor's moderate stance and appeal in the Midwest are seen by some as assets that could bolster Harris's campaign. He has also garnered attention for his focus on issues such as health care and education and is a longtime supporter of LGBTQ+ rights.

Newsweek reached out to the office of Governor Tim Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan via email outside of working hours on Wednesday for comment.
