It came just hours after the historic 6-3 ruling agreed that former presidents were immune from prosecution for official acts.

Trump faces prosecution for his role in the January 6 riots at the Capitol back in 2021, following Joe Biden's election win.

The former president had been charged with four criminal counts, including conspiracy to defraud the US and conspiracy against the rights of citizens. Trump has pleaded not guilty, claiming "absolute immunity" as president, and that the case is politically motivated.

The justices have since ordered lower courts to work out if Trump was acting officially or not.

Associate justice Sonia Sotomayor later said: "In every use of official power, the president is now a king above the law. With fear for our democracy, I dissent."

Writer King had previously told his fans: "Thanks to the Supreme Court, the next president will have the powers of a king. That's not what the founders intended. Quite the opposite.

"Overturning Roe took power from women. Today's decision takes power from all of us."

Reacting to King's latest post, @taradublinrocks said: "You're the only King I want around here."

@Zombie__Kittie continued: "Please don't give him any ideas," while @JennyBGoodX said: "No thank you. But you can."

Many Trump supporters also reacted, with @Shem_Infinite pointing out: "What a difference a week makes huh," as he highlighted a previous message by King.

It had read: "Trump is going to lose. Prepare for it," posted last Tuesday, June 25.
@shanrocksnwa said: "And he's going to win. Cry about it."

@DK_Able added: "Lol okay dude. Remember when he had a first term and didn't declare himself king?"(sic)

King had earlier shared his opinion of 2024's first presidential debate on social media on Sunday.

On June 27, President Joe Biden and Trump met at CNN's studio in Atlanta to discuss issues important to the American electorate ahead of November's election.
