Amid his ongoing, widely-publicized divorce from Christina Hall, Joshua Hall is dealing with another painful loss.

Josh took to Instagram on Tuesday, August 6, to share that his longtime friend Gonzalo Galvez died after a battle with cancer. He tagged the location of the post as "City of Hope," a cancer treatment center. Last week, the treatment center unexpectedly wound up becoming part of Christina's social media feud with Josh.

In a lengthy tribute to his friend, Josh remembered Galvez fondly, as someone with an iron will.

"We spoke or saw each other weekly and every time there was another setback he was faced with, he would look me in the eyes and say he will never give up or stop fighting," said Josh in the post's caption.

Elsewhere in the post, Josh recalls meeting Galvez during their time as "as two young deputies working for the LA County Sheriffs Department." Josh knew instantly that Galvez was someone he'd want to be friends with for years. Josh and Galvez were friends for 23 years, and the Instagram carousel contains photos of the two on duty, partying, enjoying dinners together, and simply having fun.

Josh notes that during his final days, Galvez was surrounded by family members and loved ones. "In this time, I witnessed dozens of family, old friends and partners who all loved this man," Josh said. "It was incredible to see the respect and share stories about our experiences together. Every once in a while, he would lift his head up and share a laugh or ask [if] we were ok."

Josh posted on his story a photo of the word "Hope" in large, block lettering signage, on Thursday, August 1. His soon-to-be-ex-wife Christina, 41, shared the story on her own page, seemingly mocking Josh, saying, "'I 'HOPE' she pays me millions more than what she's already offered me." The HGTV star appeared to be referring to her claims that Josh allegedly transferred $35,000 from her bank account into his one day before their split

As it turns out, the sign is located outside City of Hope. A source close to Josh confirmed to People at the time that Josh was visiting his "sick best friend, who is a cop with a terminal illness" and that the Instagram Story "had nothing to do with Christina."
