Patrick Mahomes' comment on Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift is gaining traction online.
The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback appeared on SiriusXM NFL Radio for a training camp special on Tuesday at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri. While speaking with hosts Bruce Murray and former Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith, Mahomes said teammate Kelce grew out his hair thanks to his girlfriend, Taylor Swift.
"I've been trying to get him to grow his hair out and, all of a sudden, Taylor gets him to do it," the 28-year-old said of the Chiefs' tight end, 34.
Mahomes' remark has been making the rounds on X, formerly Twitter. Kelce and Swift fan account @TayvisUpdatesTV shared a snippet from the interview, which has racked up more than 54,500 views at the time of publication.
Another fan account, @traviskelce_fan posted the clip too, which garnered an additional 13,000 views.
In the comments and post engagements, X users shared their thoughts.
"THANK YOU TAYLOR!!!!" @becca_canada1 wrote.
"lmaooooo [laughing my a** off] growing out his hair for his lady," @karistbh posted, while @kaiamal13 added, "what tay says, goes iktrrrr [I know that's right]."
While Swift is a fan of his long hair, though, she liked his short hair too. Kelce's barber, Patrick Regan—who has known Kelce for six years—told Fox News in February that the "Cruel Summer" singer complimented his work.
Regan said: "Taylor loves the haircut. She has watched me cut his hair a bunch of times and always compliments it after."
Kelce is known for his fashion forward looks. In November, he opened up about his style in the Riggle's Picks podcast.
"It's full-on me. I kind of went to, like, an artsy, very multicultural school and community growing up," Kelce said at the time. "Every day at my school, there was kids showing up in the latest, newest, hottest gear and sneakers and everything, and I just naturally kind of gravitated towards having fun with what I throw on."
Last week, Kelce revealed new information about Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?, his new hosting gig.
Amazon Prime Video, Amazon MGM Studios and Kelce shared a joint Instagram photo of the sports star, who appeared to be on the show's set.
"Sharpen your pencils. Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?, hosted by Travis Kelce, arrives October 16," the post read.
In the comments, fans were quick to share their enthusiasm about the Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? spin-off.
"This is going to be so fun to watch, this man has great on-screen chemistry," user @jaded.moonstone.aura wrote of Kelce, who co-hosts his New Heights podcast with brother Jason Kelce.

Kelce and Swift were first linked in July 2023 when Kelce attended one of Swift's Eras Tour shows. The pop star was spotted at several of his football games in September and October, and the couple went public with their romance on October 14 at a Saturday Night Live after-party.
