Princess Kate's affectionate gestures with Prince William have been praised by fans after footage captured from the time of King Charles III's coronation celebrations in 2023 has resurfaced on TikTok.

Public interest in the prince and princess' relationship has grown in recent years, with their early dating history being dramatized in late 2023 for the final season of Netflix's royal drama The Crown.

William and Kate met while they were college students studying on the same course at St Andrews University in Scotland in 2001. They began dating soon after, and their relationship was made public when the British press obtained photos of them skiing together in 2004.

The couple announced their engagement in 2010 and were married at Westminster Abbey in London a year later. William and Kate celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary this April.

Since the beginning of the year, Kate has stepped out of the public eye while experiencing health issues. This led to her announcement in March that she had received a cancer diagnosis and a recommendation that she undertake a course of preventive chemotherapy.

In the absence of new appearances between the royal couple, fans have taken to social media to share highlights from past engagements and favorite "PDA" (public displays of affection) moments.

Uploaded to TikTok by user @kittywaless on August 11, footage captured of William and Kate meeting local community members in Windsor, Berkshire, England, before the coronation concert held in honor of Charles and Queen Camilla has won praise for its affectionate nature.

In the footage, Kate can be seen repeatedly placing her hand comfortingly on her husband's back as they speak with people gathered on Windsor Castle's "Long Walk" drive. At points, the prince also returns the gesture, with the couple's public display of affection being noted by social-media users at the time.

Captioned "clinginess was turned up at this event," the TikTok post has received almost 7,000 likes and numerous comments, many of which have praised the couple.

"They give each other energetic support," wrote one user.

"They have such cute separation anxiety from each other," posted another, with a further comment reading: "That shows how loving they are with each other."

In June this year, Kate made a public declaration of her love for her husband in a social-media post authored to mark his 42nd birthday.

For the occasion, Kate released a never-before-seen photo of William and the couple's three children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis—with the caption reading: "Happy birthday Papa, we all love you so much! Cx."
