As back-to-school season is upon us, Bristol Palin has shared a family update. Bristol, 33 — who is the daughter of Todd Palin and Sarah Palin — revealed that her 15-year-old son, Tripp Easton, has moved back to the family's home state.

Bristol shared the news in an Instagram Story, which featured her daughters Sailor Grace, 8, Atlee Bay, 7, dressed in their back-to-school outfits.

"This has been the hardest 'first day of school' yet with one of the biggest pieces of my heart missing," Bristol wrote. "Tripp has decided to finish out high school in Alaska to be closer to his dad and our entire family. If you know Tripp, you know he lives for hunting/fishing and I honestly can't blame him for wanting to be back home."

Bristol shares Tripp with her ex, Levi Johnston. She admitted that the transition has been hard for her, however, she is happy that Tripp will be able to pursue his interests and hobbies.

"As hard as it has been to come to grips with his decision — it's truly not about what I want. He's almost 16 years old and that relationship with his dad is a lot more important than my own selfish desires of having him with his mama forever!"

She closed the post, sharing that she is "selfishly praying for a quick year" so time will go by quickly, and the family will reunite quickly.

Bristol, Sailor, and Atlee live in Texas, where they moved in 2016 during Bristol's marriage to their father, Dakota Meyer. Bristol and Meyer divorced in 2018.

In 2022, Bristol shared that there is no bad blood between her and Meyer, and that the two still get along well as co-parents.

"Put aside the past, differences, etc and focus on what's best for your babes, not loosing [sic] sight of that - is everything," Bristol said.
