New hair, who dis? Mark Wahlberg has taken a part in an upcoming action thriller to a head-turning level — literally. The actor, known for his commitment to his roles, recently debuted a strikingly bald look, forgoing a bald cap for the real deal in preparation for his latest film.

Sporting nothing but skin on his head, Wahlberg, 53, shared a shirtless snapshot on Wednesday, July 3 via Instagram that captured his drastic transformation. "No bald cap for me😎😂 we go all in @flightriskmovie October 18th 🤬😳🤣," he captioned the post.

The bold new look is for his role in Flight Risk, where the Oscar nominee stars alongside Michelle Dockery and Topher Grace. The film's plot thickens over the skies of Alaska, featuring Wahlberg as a pilot who's also a hitman on a mission to eliminate a fugitive played by Grace, 45, all while flying a federal agent portrayed by Dockery, 42.

As soon as Wahlberg's new look hit social media, fans couldn't help themselves but to immediately comment on his dramatic makeover.

"I knew if I waited long enough, going Bald would be cool... ❤️" one person commented.

"Would still smash." jested another.

"DEDICATED 🙌😂" cheered a third.

Explaining his choice to ditch the bald cap, Wahlberg told People in June during an interview that, "There was no bald cap." The world-famous movie star continued, "I shaved the middle and left the horseshoe around the sides. We just shaved it. They would shave the top as close to the scalp as possible every day, obviously, because we didn't have any stubble or anything. So I just hid it with a hat."

Wahlberg went on to say, "But the most priceless thing was seeing my wife's face when I took my hat off after getting the haircut for work that day." It was his children, however, who really had a field day. "My kids — my boys especially — they loved the haircut," the dad of four told the magazine. "They got a lot of laughs out of that."

Flight Risk soars into theaters October 18.
