When it comes to how Taylor Swift's fans are reacting to Donald Trump online, it appears that it's about to be a "Cruel Summer."

The former president, 78, drew the attention of the 33-year-old singer's enormous fan base when he posted a collection of photos on his Truth Social platform that implied the singer and her fans were supporting him.

One of the images is a screenshot from X (formerly known as Twitter) which shared a satirical article. The title of the story, which was posted by a conservative comedy account known as @Amuse, reads "Swifties Turning To Trump After ISIS Foiled Vienna Concert." The other images are of women wearing T-shirts that read "Swifties For Trump," and an AI-generated picture of Taylor Swift dressed as Uncle Sam. In the last picture, Swift points to the viewer with a caption reading "Taylor wants YOU to vote for Donald Trump." The presidential candidate wrote "I accept!" regarding the alleged support from Taylor Swift fans.

The post made its way from Truth Social to X, where fans have been quick to repudiate any connection between Taylor Swift and Donald Trump.

One fan summed up the singer's power and influence by writing: "I can think of no rational purpose in drawing the ire and full attention of Taylor Swift."

Others felt that there should be consequences for the former president's use of artificially generated images. "Him posting this should be illegal. He knows it's not real. He knows it's AI but still posted it to interfere with the election."

Another noted that there doesn't appear to be a big overlap between Swifties and Trump fans with an image of a tumbleweed rolling through the desert.

Swift has previously supported the Biden/Harris campaign, and fans are even beginning to wonder if she will perform at the Democratic National Convention, noting that she does not have any Eras Tour performances scheduled during the convention dates.

Swift has not yet commented on Trump's use of her image, but it is widely assumed she did not approve the association. One fan doubled down on this assessment by adding: "Trump doing something without getting consent from a woman is so on brand."
