After years of conflict with her father, Brad Pitt, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt has officially removed the "Pitt" from her name.

The 18-year-old daughter of Angelina Jolie and Pitt, 60, has had her name change request approved by a judge in the Superior Court of Los Angeles, according to court documents obtained by Page Six. Her name has officially been changed from Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie.

After applying for the name change on her 18th birthday in May, Shiloh had to wait a few months for the judge to make a ruling regarding her surname. Her lawyer, Peter Levine, told the press that the postponement was due to the court's failure to complete a background check. He assured fans of the Jolie-Pitt children that "this is normal," despite the delay.

Shiloh's decision to distance herself from her famous father comes after many years of reported bad blood with the actor. When Pitt and Jolie, 49, divorced, according to Variety, Jolie's attorneys alleged that Pitt had a physical altercation with his wife and one of the children on a plane in front of the entire family. The divorce suit said that "some of the children pleaded with Pitt to stop. They were all frightened. Many were crying." ABC News reported that the LA Department of Children and Family Services found Pitt innocent of child abuse, but Jolie was given primary custody of the six Jolie-Pitt children. Pitt was allowed "therapeutic visits."

This has been a dramatic summer for the family, as Shiloh's older brother Pax was severely injured in an e-bike accident on July 29. Sources have told PEOPLE that Shiloh, along with siblings Maddox, 22, Zahara, 19, and 15-year-olds Vivienne and Knox "have been visiting and helping," their brother, as has his mother, Jolie.

Shiloh is a dancer whose work has been praised by choreographer and instructor Koelani Marks in E! News. She has also appeared in small roles in her parents' movies Kung Fu Panda 3 and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
