Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy has stepped into the apparent ongoing feud between Taylor Swift and Dave Grohl.

The internet personality defended Swift after the Foo Fighters frontman questioned her live performance authenticity at one of his shows on Saturday, June 22. Grohl criticized Swift's Eras Tour, dubbing it the "errors tour" while claiming his band "actually play live," sparking backlash from Swift's fervent fanbase.

In response, Portnoy – who is a known Swift enthusiast and hilariously refers to the singer as "mother" – expressed his support for the pop star on his BFFS podcast with co-hosts Josh Richards and Brianna "Chickenfry" LaPaglia. In a clip from the pod that was shared on TikTok on Tuesday, July 2, Portnoy stated, "I thought she played live." He then continued to the group, trying to make sense of the situation, "Even if it's true, someone told me at one point Dave Grohl's daughter said something about Taylor, and the Swifties went after her?"

Richards then mentioned that Grohl's 18-year-old daughter shaded the "Bad Blood" singer in the past for her private jet use, to which Portnoy and Chickenfry agreed could be the reasoning for the 55-year-old's harsh words on stage the other night. The Stool Presidente, 47, admitted, "I like the Foo Fighters, I like Dave Grohl, but, like, is this what you want? You want to take on the Swifties?" before concluding it was an "unneeded thing to say."

Fans in the comments of the podcast clip seem to agree with Portnoy. One fan commented, "She does play live. I love Dave, and the Foo Fighters, but he was petty," while another noted, "she literally has a live band on stage with her every night 😂." Another shaded Grohl, saying, "It's funny because foo fighters plane is way less economically friendly than hers."

34-year-old Swift seemingly responded to Grohl's comments during her final concert at Wembley Stadium in London on Sunday, June 23, emphasizing the live performance of her band. Addressing the sold-out crowd, she said, "What you just did is an unforgettable moment in not just my life, but every single one of our crew. The band that's going to be playing live for you for three and a half hours tonight. They deserve this so much and so does every one of my fellow performers, and you just gave that to us so generously. We'll never forget it."
