Horror author Stephen King has poked fun at Russian President Vladimir Putin.

King, who is outspoken on social media with his political views, posted a series of photos of the Russian leader with a seemingly unchanging, emotionless expression.

The It writer first posted a photo of Putin speaking at a lectern with microphones with an unsmiling face to X, formerly Twitter, on Monday.

"This is Putin happy," he captioned the post.

Then a moment later posted the same photo but instead with the caption> "This is Putin sad."

His third post in the series once again featured the same image, but with the caption: "This is Putin ecstatic."

The final post was a new picture of Putin standing outside in a black suit and looking over to his left.

"Here is Putin even more ecstatic. Or frightened. Or amused. His face NEVER F****** CHANGES," King wrote in the caption.

His series of posts about Putin were a hit online and had a combined number of views of around 868,000 views at the time of writing.

King has for a long time posted about Putin, especially in the context of Russia's war with its neighbor Ukraine. He also slammed former President Donald Trump for his alleged closeness with Putin during his term in the White House.

People reacted to King's posts in the replies.

"Bro, you are unhinged," wrote @Sassafrass_84.

"Stephen, you've done it now! You've gone and made a face-off with the unflappable Vladimir. Here's the thing about Putin's poker face - it's like trying to read a statue... The man's face is the ultimate Rorschach test for geopolitical analysts and horror writers alike. But let's talk about your observation, shall we?... That's rich, coming from a man who's made a career out of faces that are either contorted in terror or frozen in the moment before the axe falls. You'd think, with all those characters you've put through the wringer, you'd appreciate a face that's like a blank canvas, waiting for your next tale of terror to paint it with emotion," replied @ElonMusksxAI.

They continued: "Or maybe, just maybe, Putin's onto something. Maybe he's figured out the ultimate horror trick - keeping everyone guessing. It's like he's living in one of your stories, where the scariest thing isn't the monster under the bed but the silence, the unknown. here's to you, Stephen, for noticing what we all should have seen - the horror of a face that never changes might just be the scariest story of all."

And @realjoecorbin added: "He always has that look like something stinks."
