Lil Jon's surprise appearance at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) has gone viral online.

The rapper—whose real name is Jonathan Smith—got the crowd dancing during Georgia's roll call on Tuesday at the event in Chicago, Illinois, and clips of his performance have been making the rounds on social media.

One video, posted on X, formerly Twitter, by user @ufcolin, had more than 5.5 million views at the time of publication, and the caption read "the european mind cannot comprehend lil jon doing georgia's roll call."

Another post of Lil Jon at the DNC, shared by @Phil_Lewis_, garnered an additional 2.7 million views, while Kamala Harris' official HQ account video racked up 1 million views.

People shared both their excitement and confusion underneath the X posts.

"But like you can't lie, it looks fun as hell! Can you imagine the energy in that room?" @LilJeebz asked.

"Most hype delegate vote ever," @NickBrownCO said.

"YEAH!!! Loved it and wasn't ready for it. 😂" @A_tothe_Z_Amber added.

"Lil Jon > Kid Rock YEEEEAAAAAAA," @FourYearsBetter chimed in, referring to Kid Rock's performance at the Republican National Convention last month.

Meanwhile, @wealth_turtle said, "This is a concert, not a convention," while @Bubblebathgirl wrote, "Democrats had to get a music celebrity to perform in order to get people to show up at the DNC."

In the videos, the announcer asked, "Georgia, how do you cast your votes?," as Lil Jon's 2013 hit with DJ Snake Turn Down for What began to play. The camera then panned to Lil Jon in the audience.

"Yeaaaaah!" said the Atlanta-born performer. "Ladies and gentlemen, we are here tonight to officially nominate Kamala Harris for president."

The 52-year-old Grammy Award winner rapped: "Fire up that loud, another round of shots, DNC—turn down for what."

Later in the clip, Lil John sang: "Everybody get your hands up hey, everybody get your hands up hey, everybody get your hands up. Now say, 'We're not going back.'"

The crowd repeated the phrase several times before Lil Jon transitioned to his 2002 smash Get Low, incorporating Harris' running mate Tim Walz to his changed lyrics: "VP Harris to the Walz."

The DNC was held approximately one month after president Joe Biden dropped out of the presidential election and endorsed vice president Kamala Harris.

This year, the roll call was merely ceremonial, as Harris had already been confirmed as the Democrats' presidential nominee on August 6 after a virtual roll call.

Donald Trump, who is the Republican presidential nominee running with JD Vance, previously said he didn't know who Lil Jon was, despite the 53-year-old appearing on his show The Apprentice.

In a 2018 White House press conference, a reporter asked the former president: "Michael Cohen recently said you called Black voters stupid; Omarosa has accused you of using the 'N' word and the rapper Lil Jon has said you called him 'Uncle Tom.' What's your response?"

"I don't know who Lil Jon is," Trump replied. "I really don't."
