There is one starlet who may have predicted things were not going to work out for Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck.

In Lopez's 2024 documentary, The Greatest Love Story Never Told, longtime friend and confidant Jane Fonda got candid with her feelings about the "Jenny from the Block" singer rekindling her relationship with Affleck.

On a phone call with Lopez, Fonda, 86, told her Monster-in-Law co-star, "I don't entirely know why but I feel invested in you and Ben. I really... want this to work."

The actress further voiced her concerns to Lopez, explaining: "It feels too much like you're trying to prove something instead of just living it."

"You know every other photograph is the two of you kissing and the two of you hugging," the Academy Award winner added, referring to the slew of paparazzi photos that circulated the press and social media in 2022.

"That's us living our life," Lopez responded.

Lopez and Fonda starred alongside each other in the 2005 romantic comedy Monster-in-Law, and share, in Lopez's words, "a kind of love relationship over many years." The "Waiting for Tonight" artist explained in the documentary that she not only looks up to Fonda as an actress and activist but also in terms of relationships and being "beat up by the press."

"We kind of are similar when it comes to love," Lopez remarked. "She's very protective of me and felt like you're putting yourself out there [with the Affleck romance] to get beat up again."

Later on in the documentary, Fonda voiced more concerns about Lopez and the Gone Girl star's relationship.

The Emmy Award winner said she gets "real scared" when there are reports about how Affleck looks "unhappy," like at the 2022 Grammy Awards. "It's like, 'Oh my god what's happening?'" Fonda confessed. Lopez, at the time, reassured her friend nothing was happening and that Affleck jokes about how he has "become the symbol of the beleaguered man."

On Tuesday, August 20, Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck, the same day of the two-year anniversary of their second wedding ceremony in Georgia. The couple first married in a Las Vegas ceremony in July 2022.
