Kailyn Lowry of Teen Mom 2 is set to marry her longtime boyfriend, Elijah Scott, after his many pleas.
The mother of seven revealed the news of her engagement during an episode of her Coffee Convos podcast, which she co-hosts with Lindsie Chrisley. During the episode, which was made available on Thursday, August 22, Lowry, 34, explains to Chrisley, 34, that she and Scott got engaged when Chrisley asked Lowry about a ring she was wearing, noting that she isn't married — yet.
"This is the ring that they give you before you get married," said Lowry.
Lowry then proceeds to tell Chrisley that the reason neither she nor Scott, 26, announced their engagement, as Scott had asked Lowry for her hand in marriage multiple times over the years. She admitted she didn't take him seriously, until he had a ring to show her.
"I was just like, 'We'll play this by ear. I'll let you know, if you have a ring one day, we'll reevaluate,'" Lowry said. "And then one day he just showed up with a ring."
Lowry continued, sharing that he didn't propose in a traditional manner, as he knows she doesn't like being the center of attention.
"We've both been married already, so we both don't care about the whole 'get on one knee and make it all romantic and stuff,'" she said. "Because that's just not how we are...He came into the bathroom one day while I was getting ready and he gave me the ring...I was like, 'Oh my God, thank you!'"
The Teen Mom 2 alumna shares her 14-year-old son Isaac with her ex, Jo Rivera, her 10-year old son Lincoln with her ex-husband Javi Marroquin — to whom, she was married from 2012 to 2016 — Lux, 7, and Creed, 4, with her ex, Chris Lopez, and Rio, 2, and twins Verse and Valley, both 1, with Scott.
Scott was previously married to ex Kayla Brooke from 2018 to 2020.
In a recent interview with Us Weekly, Lowry expressed how happy both she and her kids feel with Scott.
"He's so cool, calm and collected at all times. I've never experienced that in my entire life," Lowry said. "He's an angel on this earth, and I don't know what I did to deserve him. [He's like], 'Nothing is too big of a problem, we're gonna figure it out.' And that's really different for me."
