Kerstin Emhoff, the first wife of second gentleman Doug Emhoff, has defended Vice President Kamala Harris following a conversation about the Democratic presidential nominee on Fox News.

Fox host Jesse Watters said that if Harris became president, the Joint Chiefs of Staff "would have their way with her" in the Situation Room.

"What is her foreign policy? This is where the president has his most impact," Watters said on Monday's episode of The Five, adding, "We don't know who she is. We don't know what she believes. She's gonna get paralyzed in the Situation Room while the generals have their way with her."

When chided by co-panelists Dana Perino and Jeanine Pirro, Watters said: "Figuratively, again. Have their way with her, control her—not in a sexual way."

On X, formerly Twitter, Kerstin Emhoff threw her support behind Harris, writing, "There are many things to worry about, but Kamala being manhandled in the situation room is not one of them."

Kerstin Emhoff, a film producer, was married to the second gentleman for 16 years before their 2008 divorce. They share two children—Cole, 29, and Ella, 25—both of whom spoke at the Democratic National Convention, which took place in Chicago between August 19 and August 22.

Kerstin Emhoff also attended the convention to show her support for Harris' presidential campaign.

On X, she posted a photo of herself and Doug Emhoff and discussed their more than three-decade-long friendship.

She wrote in the caption: "After 33 years of unwavering friendship and two amazing kids, I'm incredibly proud of this man and our blended family. This week has exceeded all my expectations. I'm excited to spend the next 74 days working hard to help Doug and Kamala win this November!"

Kerstin Emhoff was also directly involved in the convention, producing the biographical short film that played before Doug Emhoff's speech at the event.

Cole Emhoff directed and narrated the short film, titled "This Is My Dad, Doug." At its conclusion, he introduced the second gentleman onstage ahead of his DNC speech.

The short film told the story of Doug Emhoff and Harris' journey to love, their marriage in 2014 and their changing roles on Capitol Hill.

Cole spoke of how his dad met Harris on a "blind date that would dramatically change all of our lives forever."

He said in the film, "It was my senior year of high school, El and I would laugh watching them fall in love like teenagers."
