It's official–Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright are calling it quits after less than five years of marriage. Now that the divorce papers are in motion, we're rounding up how the Vanderpump Rules and The Valley stars really feel about the relationship and its aftermath.

In March of 2024, co-star Scheana Shay told Bravo outlet The Daily Dish that she thinks her friend made the right decision in separating from Taylor. "I think it's for the best. I think she deserves better, and she deserves a partner who's going to treat her with respect." Jesse Lally also spoke to The Daily Dish in May 2024 with a different take, saying that although "the writing was on the wall" for the split, he was hoping that the couple would eventually reconcile. "I love them and they're doing an amazing job right now, the two of them....I hope everyone works it out."

Jasmine Goode told Us Weekly in a March feature that Cartwright is "back" and her confidence has vastly improved after the breakup. "I am so proud of her. Seeing how she is standing up for herself," she said to the outlet. Goode said she hoped the couple would work things out, but Jax was not in the right place for a commitment. "You'll see on the show I was riding on Jax's ass trying to get his relationship back on track, but he needs to work on himself or go on a retreat or something."

Janet Elizabeth Caperana, a close friend of Cartwright, also spoke to Us Weekly and said that Brittany is focusing on her and Taylor's 3-year-old son, Cruz. "She's doing well. She's being the best mom possible. She's putting Cruz first. That's the most important thing for both of them."

Cartwright and Taylor officially separated on January 24, 2024. They lived apart and even began seeing other people, as Cartwright told E! News in a June 6 interview. "We said that, going into this, that we could test the waters with other people if we wanted to. I know that seems weird, it might be a little crazy for a lot of people, but that's what we wanted to do." Their relationship was always fraught--before they were married, Taylor was caught cheating on Cartwright on an episode of Vanderpump rules. He attended an in-patient treatment program for undisclosed mental health reasons over the summer of 2024, but announced that he planned to check out on August 19. In court documents obtained by TMZ, Cartwright cited "irreconcilable differences" in her decision to divorce her husband.

Fans seem to be in Cartwright's corner on X. One wrote, "I really hope Brittany finds her peace. Jax Taylor tormented her on a national scale and she never deserved that kind of treatment. "

Another posted a clip of Sandra Oh from the AMC series Killing Eve, announcing "Good for her!"

One thing was consistent about many of the cast members–they told fans they'd need to watch the upcoming seasons of Vanderpump Rules and The Valley to get the full scoop. The couple has not officially commented on their divorce yet.
