Taylor Swift fans held nothing back after Brittany Mahomes allegedly showed her support for Donald Trump.
Mahomes — who has become close friends with Swift since the pop star began dating Travis Kelce last summer — made headlines earlier this month when she reportedly "liked" a social media post from former president Donald Trump. (The post in question reportedly featured a "2024 GOP Platform" graphic that listed ideology such as "keep men out of women's sports" and "deport pro-Hamas radicals and make our college campuses safe and patriotic.")
Days later, Brittany — who is currently pregnant with her and husband Patrick Mahomes' third child — took to her Instagram Stories to seemingly hit back at those who criticized her alleged engagement with Trump's post.
"To be a hater as an adult, you have to have some deep-rooted issues you refuse to heal from childhood," read a post on Brittany's Saturday, August 24 Instagram Story. "There's no reason your brain is fully developed and you hate to see others doing well."
She seemingly doubled down on her clapback two days later, sharing another post on her Story — this time with her own commentary.
"Contrary to the tone of the world today….you can disagree with someone, and still love them. You can have differing views, and still be kind," read the post Brittany shared on August 26.
"Read that again!" she wrote underneath the graphic.
Among the many people to react to Brittany's alleged "like" — and her follow-up posts that appear to defend it — are Swifties, who are none too happy with Swift's close pal's supposed political affliation.
"Taylor about to enter football season and NOW brittany mahomes comes out as a trump supporter... i cant remember the last time the taylor nation WASNT in flames i f**ing hate it here," one person wrote via X (formerly known as Twitter).
"The fact Brittany supports Trump who'll suspend the right to political disagreement should disgust people. She's relying on Taylor to cleanse her name," another person opined.
Others pointed out the timing of Mahomes' "haters" clapback, which she shared via her instagram Story on the same day she was celebrating Blake Lively's birthday at Swift's Rhode Island mansion.
"Wait, so Brittany Mahomes decided to reveal herself as a Trump supporter while being hosted as a guest at the Rhode Island home of liberal Taylor Swift?" one fan questioned. "She couldn't possibly keep her 'like' finger steady until the following weekend when it would be less insulting? 🤨."
There were some Swifties who tried to reassure the fandom.
"I don't think Taylor's a Trump supporter by mere association with Brittany," one person tweeted, while another wrote: "Taylor got nothing to do with Brittany's s****y actions this isn't primary school last time I checked Taylor hates Trump and admitted it."
Others had a stronger message for Swift, particularly in light of the Swifties for Kamala virtual event (organized by fans who want to see Vice President Kamala Harris beat Trump in the 2024 presidential election).
"I attended S4K and hope Taylor speaks up," one attendee shared via X. "Taylor also did not take legal action against Trump for using AI of her. She hung out with Brittany Mahomes after Brittany's trump support + defense. If we judge by her actions, we must look at those too."
