Joe Rogan set his sights on first lady Jill Biden following a defense of her husband's performance during the first presidential debate.
President Joe Biden squared off against former President Donald Trump in the first of three debates before November's election. However, he is now facing calls to step aside and allow another Democrat to get the party's nomination following a bumbling performance.
Biden's team told Newsweek the president had a cold during the debate that explained his poor performance, and he later promised at a campaign rally that "with all my heart and soul that I can do this job."
Rogan discussed the possibility of Biden not running in the upcoming election on his podcast The Joe Rogan Experience with comedian Jimmy Dore.
"It's very clear watching Joe Biden, that he's not making all his decisions and... they tell him what to say," Rogan said, pointing out that Biden has read "end of quote" on a teleprompter rather than just following the cue silently.
The podcaster added that the people on Biden's team "don't want him losing that position, including his wife."
"She did an interview afterward saying, he's smarter than he's ever been... she doesn't want him to stop," Rogan asked his guest.
Newsweek contacted Biden's team by email for comment.
The men then suggested that the first lady did not have her husband's best interests at heart by continuing to support his run for the presidency and Dore mocked her for congratulating Biden on his performance when she joined him on stage at the end of the debate.
"That's how you talk to a three-year-old," Dore said, to which Rogan responded, "that was crazy."
Following that episode's release on Thursday, Rogan took to X, formerly Twitter to also post about the president.
He posted a screenshot of a New York Times article with the headline, "For Joe Biden, What Seems Like Age Might Instead Be Style."
Rogan captioned the post, "Oh, OK. I feel better now."
On another episode of his podcast, Rogan shared a rare moment of vulnerable emotion when he spoke about his late grandparents.
"He was old and she was old; they were dying and I knew she was going to die probably quicker than him and it was this transition in my life from me going forth on this great adventure to seeing this man that I loved. It's darkness," he told his guest, Sebastian Junger.
Rogan also described being the moment at a funeral when he saw his grandfather's dead body.
"He's not there, he wasn't there anymore, he's not moving," Rogan said, and described how seeing the body made him understand the concept of a person's soul.
"I had this feeling of understanding, came across me and at that moment... I started considering a soul."
He added: "I started thinking how arrogant it is to assume that you know more than, that all these people for thousands and thousands and thousands and thousands of years people have talked about souls," describing how the concept of a soul features in many religions and philosophies.
"It's not a universal idea, it's not common to one specific culture... and I think it's something that we intuitively understand... It's intertwined with consciousness. That's what I think, this is just my own feeling."
