12 weddings and counting! Jason "Jase" Duggar, the fourth-youngest son in the Duggar family, has popped the question and is engaged to his girlfriend Madison Grace Jones. She posted a photo on Friday, August 30 with the caption, "On 8/24, Jase asked me to marry him, and I could not be more excited!!" Duggar, 24, reposted the same thing. It appears that Duggar surprised Jones, who has already changed her Instagram username to @maddiegraceduggar, with a romantic beach display of flowers, candles, and a neon sign that read "Will You Marry Me?"

Fans of the 19 Kids and Counting and Counting On franchise first became aware of Duggar's relationship on May 29, 2024, when he shared a photo of himself and an unidentified woman on a beach with a heart caption on Instagram. Fans in the comments had fun guessing the identity of the mystery woman based on individuals they'd see on the Duggar's television shows. "The fact that Bates sisters are commenting with 😍 eyes makes me think it's a Bates sister" said one fan of Counting On..., while another wrote "This would be pretty Epic if it's Addallee."

Jones was next tagged in a post on July 4th where her face was revealed and Jase was giving her a piggyback ride. Fans quickly chimed in with a mix of congratulations and shock at the close physical contact, as the Duggars are known for observing strict and chaste courtship rules with their children. In the past, parents Jim Bob and Michelle have allowed only "side hugs" and chaperoned dates during the courtship process. "You must be engaged if you're allowed to have your arms around her!" commented one fan on the pic. Other viewers encouraged the couple to take things at their own pace. "Clearly the rules are being softened as time goes on because those pictures would have never happened when the early marriages came around. But as with everybody we all soften and adjust our stan[ce] appropriately," one Instagram user said.

Comments were turned off on the engagement photo, which featured a hashtag #spring2025, indicating that there will be a little less than a year before the nuptials.
