Travis Kelce was initially tight-lipped about his romance with Taylor Swift, even keeping his brother Jason in the dark about the early details of their relationship.
On a recent episode of The Pivot Podcast, Jason, 36, disclosed that Travis, 34, was hesitant to discuss his relationship with the pop star at first, due to the intense public interest surrounding Swift. "He was very careful about what he revealed," Jason noted.
The retired NFL player explained in a clip that was shared on TikTok of the pod on Wednesday, September 5, that the couple's early reticence was part of their effort to respect each other's privacy. "They were trying to keep things low-key, and I want to honor that," he said. He also mentioned that it's not his role to delve into his brother's personal life. "I'm happy for him, but I'm aware of how much attention he's getting and how that can affect things."
Although Travis kept his relationship under wraps, Jason wasn't completely taken aback when it was revealed. He remembered his brother's attempt to give the "Fortnight" singer a bracelet with his contact information during her Eras Tour in Kansas City in July 2023. "There was a lead-up to it, 'cause there was a whole thing on the pod about him trying to get a friendship bracelet to her, so I knew that there was something," Jason noted. Although the gesture didn't lead to a meeting at that time, it obviously sparked Swift's interest.
Fans of the superstar couple were quick to leave their comments on the video. "Jason perfecting the art of saying nothing with lots of words. Lol," noted one user. Another said, "They were dating before the bracelet thing, I truly believe that. The bracelet thing was a ploy to bring it to light. Count on it!" A third fan commented, "He handled that well," referencing Jason's answers.
Jason, who is a father of three young daughters with his wife, Kylie Kelce, has been a supportive figure throughout Travis and Swift's relationship, noting that Wyatt, 4, Elliotte, 3, and Bennett, 1, are really enthusiastic about the 14-time Grammy winner's music.
