Gordon Ramsay has finally opened up about the details of his severe cycling accident in June that left him pretty badly banged up.

In a recent interview with Men's Health that was published on Thursday, September 5, the Next Level Chef host and chef recounted how a seemingly innocuous bike ride turned into a horrifying ordeal.

Ramsay, 57, recalled hitting a "crater-like pothole" that abruptly threw his bike into a violent spin, with the sudden jolt ejecting him from his bike. Despite his initial attempts to continue riding, which he since admitted was "stupid," he quickly discovered that his helmet had sustained a significant crack, resulting in blurred vision and a bloodied face. "I honestly thought I was going to pass out," Ramsay admitted in the interview, reflecting on the moment of shock.

The chef's assistant, Justin Mandel, played a crucial role in managing the situation. Ramsay called Mandel, who then coordinated an ambulance to his location on a Connecticut road. After a trip to the hospital, Ramsay was relieved to find that no bones were broken, though he faced an extensive recovery process where he underwent daily lymphatic drainage treatments and physiotherapy.

Recounting his struggle with basic tasks, Ramsay said to the outlet, "I couldn't even put my f—king socks and pants on. Justin, he used to dress me in the morning. I felt like a f—king 95-year-old man."

The Hell's Kitchen icon initially shared news of the accident on Father's Day, expressing his relief at having survived the crash. He posted images of his injury, including a massive purple bruise that stretched from his waist to his ribs, and emphasized the importance of wearing a helmet, regardless of the ride's length."Honestly, you've got to wear a helmet. I don't care how short the journey is," Ramsay urged his followers.

Fans of the chef discussed their concern in the comments of the photo and left their well wishes for Ramsay. "Glad you are ok! Hope you make a quick recovery 🙏," said one fan, while another wrote, "Very good advice glad you are ok!! ❤️‍🩹." A third shared their own personal anecdote on helmet safety, noting, " helmet saved my life 30+ years ago. I always wear one. I'm glad you had yours."
