Saturday Night Live cast member Chloe Troast has revealed that she hasn't been asked back to the sketch comedy program.
The 27-year-old comedian and actor featured on the NBC series for its 49th season. Now she has taken to her Instagram Story to share that she will not be returning to the show that felt "like home" for its 50th season, set to premiere on September 28.
Newsweek emailed a spokesperson for Troast and NBC for comment on Tuesday.
"Unfortunately I was not asked back to SNL this season. I wish I was going back to be with all the amazing friends I made there, it felt truly like home. But it wasn't in the cards," she wrote on Tuesday.
"I wanna thank everyone who supported me. Especially everyone who came to see my tour this summer, wore costumes from characters and had such wonderful things to say. You mean everything to me. I hope I was able to spread joy and laughter, all love. Onwards and upwards."
People have taken to X (formerly Twitter) to share their frustration over the news.
"Reciting this brilliant sketch from memory in honor of Chloe Troast [salute emoji]
Like fellow one-season SNL star Jenny Slate, history will look kindly upon her!" one person wrote, sharing a clip of the "Little Orphan Cassidy" sketch alongside actor Timothée Chalamet.
"Maybe this is the bias talking but losing Chloe Troast after she had a phenomenal first season, being SNL's musical girlie whose voices carried every show tuned sketch is a beyond idiotic decision. She deserves the world, and I can feel, will soon, fly so high," said another.
A third person added: "Chloe Troast not being asked back to #SNL for a 2nd season is one of the most surprising SNL firings in the last 20 years. Hoping she joins a long list of one-and-done SNLers who found strong success after their brief tenures at the show."

This comes after cast member Molly Kearney, who has been on the show for two seasons, and Punkie Johnson, who's been on for four, announced their departures from the program.
According to Deadline, Marcello Hernandez, Michael Longfellow and Devon Walker—who have been featured players for two seasons—have been promoted to main cast and Ashley Padilla, Emil Wakim and Jane Wickline have joined for Season 50.
SNL alum Maya Rudolph will also be returning, reprising her role as Vice President Kamala Harris throughout the presidential race.
Rudolph first played Harris in 2019 and during the 2020 election campaign; the politician went on to become vice president, and the actor won an Emmy for portraying her on the sketch show.
