No. 1 Amazon bestseller The Backwards K is getting the Hollywood treatment!

Author J.J. Hebert is teaming up with John Tucker Must Die actor and Desperate Housewives alum Jesse Metcalfe to adapt the book into a screenplay and develop it for film.

"Jesse and I have agreed to develop The Backwards K together. He has a long history of success as an actor, and this project, like his other projects in development, aims to put him on the map as a producer," Hebert shared.

Metcalfe, 45, boasts over 40 film and television credits, including Desperate Housewives, and star-studded projects like Hard Kill with Bruce Willis, On a Wing and a Prayer with Dennis Quaid, and Clear Cut with Alec Baldwin.

The Dallas actor really connected with The Backwards K, sharing his praise in a video Hebert posted to his YouTube account. "Now, this novel is truly captivating. It tells the story about former baseball star Jet Brine, who is grappling with the highs and lows of his life after his baseball career comes to an end," Metcalfe says.

His favorite aspect of the book was "the way it explores themes of redemption, love, resilience, and the power of second chances."

Metcalfe raved, "Hebert's writing is incredibly immersive. I felt like I was right there with Jet, experiencing both his triumphs and his struggles... and this isn't just a story about baseball. It's a story about life. It's a story about resilience and finding your true path, which makes it incredibly relatable, whether you're a baseball fan or not."

Hebert — who has authored six books and is the CEO and founder of MindStir Media, the top self-publishing company in the United States — called Metcalfe an "avid reader," and shared that the two of them are on the hunt for even more books to "endorse and possibly adapt to film."

"MindStir is all about giving every independent author a voice and providing them with opportunities that otherwise would never have been available to them," Hebert said.

His company is no stranger to celebrity endorsements, as MindStir also boasts Mariel Hemingway — the granddaughter of Ernest Hemingway — and Shark Tank's Kevin Harrington as business partners.

Hebert acknowledges that while "there's never a guarantee" in Hollywood, he and Metcalfe plan to do everything in their power to make The Backwards K movie happen. "There aren't enough great baseball movies on the market. I can think of maybe a dozen. It's time for us to change that," he said.

Until then, those interested in The Backwards K by J.J. Hebert can purchase the novel at Amazon.com and other retailers worldwide for $9.99 (paperback) and $2.99 (Kindle).
