Dave Portnoy, the self-proclaimed king of the Swifties, is not mixing politics with music.

After Taylor Swift endorsed Democratic nominee Kamala Harris for president of the United States via Instagram on Tuesday, September 10, the Barstool Sports founder, 47, took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to let fans know his opinion of the 14-time Grammy winner does not change regardless of whom she casts her ballot for.

"As the king of the Swifties people are asking me what I think of her Kamala endorsement. I don't care at all. People can vote for whoever they want in this country. How somebody votes will never change my opinion of a person," the social media personality tweeted.

Portnoy also confirmed he is voting for Republican nominee Donald Trump, writing, "I'm voting the other way but to each their own."

The tweet posted on Wednesday, September 11, already has 1.3 million views at the time of publication. The comment section was filled with varying opinions on the podcaster's statement.

Many agreed with Portnoy not letting politics get in the way of loving her music and artistry.

"Same! She's a great singer, songwriter and performer. But who she votes for has no bearing on how others should vote for themselves," one user commented.

However, some fans were unhappy with the Massachusetts native calling himself the king of Swifties and pushed back on this.

"who said you're the king of swifties ... certainly not us," somebody stated.

"the king of Swifties is Jack Antonoff [Swift's record producer]," another individual replied.

While some fans agreed that it is fair to vote for whomever, they also noted that if someone aligns themselves with certain beliefs, their opinions may change.

"I agree '"People can vote for whoever they want in this country"' but to me who you vote for does help shape my opinion of you. If you agree and will help an individual who will clearly lead the country, therefore friends and family to be unsafe and harder economic times, no thanks," one person commented.

Portnoy is a long-time fan of the superstar. He attended the Eras Tour at Metlife Stadium in New Jersey and raved about his experience on his BFF's podcast in June 2023. The Barstool President has also publicly defended Swift against her celebrity feuds with Scooter Braun, Kim Kardashian, and Kanye West.
