Princess Charlotte's encounter with a bug has been praised by fans after the dynamic of Prince William and Princess' Kate's young family was highlighted in a video marking the end of the Kate's chemotherapy treatment.

Kensington Palace released a video update from the princess regarding her cancer journey on September 9.

After revealing that she had received a cancer diagnosis in March, Kate began a course of what was described as "preventative chemotherapy." In the video update, the royal said this was now complete and that she was focused on her recovery and staying "cancer free."

The three-minute film contained stylistic footage of Kate shot in Norfolk, England, in August, where the Wales country home of Anmer Hall is located. The footage included appearances from William and the couple's three children, Prince George (11), Princess Charlotte (9) and Prince Louis (6).

Charlotte, the couple's only daughter, born in 2015, has won a growing fanbase among royal watchers in recent years as she has become a more visible part of the monarchy at official events.

In Kate's update, the moment the young royal's encounter with a caterpillar during a family picnic was caught on camera by videographer, Will Warr.

Uploaded to TikTok by user, teamwalesfamily, on September 10, clips highlighting the interaction with the insect have gone viral, gaining over 350,000 views on the platform so far.

The post opens with a clip showing Prince William gently trying to remove something from Charlotte's hair as the Wales family are gathered on a blanket under a tree on the grounds of Anmer Hall.

After using a playing card to recover a small black caterpillar from his daughter's hair, the prince presented it to her for inspection, when she recoiled from in mock horror.

A further clip shows Kate with her arm around Charlotte appearing to comfort her.

Captioned "A caterpillar in Charlotte's hair! but, everything is okay!" the TikTok post has received in excess of 22,000 likes and numerous comments, many of which have praised the princess for maintaining her composure during her back-to-nature moment.

"The kids are very happy and definitely loved. Beautiful family," wrote one user.

"I love the bond between Catherine and Charlotte. I wish I had been closer to my mom when I was younger," posted another, with a further comment reading: "I would cry if there was a caterpillar in my hair."
