Nicole Kidman has suffered a devastating loss.

On Thursday, September 12, the Oscar winner, 55, took to Instagram to thank everyone who sent their well wishes after the sudden passing of her mother, Janelle Ann Kidman, at 84 years old.

"My sister [Antonia Kidman] and I along with our family want to thank you for the outpouring of love and kindness we have felt this week," wrote the Practical Magic actress, who immediately left Venice last week upon finding out about her mother's death. (She was in town for the Venice Film Festival.)

"Every message we have received from those who loved and admired our Mother has meant more to us than we will ever be able to express. Thank you from our whole family for respecting our privacy as we take care of each other ❤️," Nicole concluded the caption of her post, which featured a slideshow of photos of her late mom.

Heartfelt condolences from the Family Affair star's fellow A-list actors immediately poured in.

"I am so sorry for your loss Nicole. Sending blessings to you and your family ❤️," Michelle Pfeiffer commented.

"I am so sorry," penned Julianne Moore. "It is a terrible loss 💔 thinking of you and your family."

"Oh Nicole I am so deeply saddened by this. My heart and prayers are with you and your family. I can't even imagine… 💔," Robyn Lively wrote.

Other stars, including Lindsay Lohan and Rose Byrne, expressed their condolences through heart and prayer hand emojis.

Nicole's mother's death was initially announced at the Venice Film Festival on September 7, when Babygirl director Halina Reijn accepted the Best Actress award on Nicole's behalf.

"Today, I arrived in Venice to find out shortly after, that my beautiful, brave mother Janelle Ann Kidman has just passed," Reijn read out loud, as the audience gasped. "I am in shock and I have to go to my family."

Nicole further noted in her statement that she was dedicating the award to her mom. "This award is for her. She shaped me, she guided me and she made me," Reijn continued as she read the actress' statement. "I'm beyond grateful that I get to say her name to all of you through Halina. The collision of life and art is heartbreaking, and my heart is broken."
